Pet dog licenses-are crucial

It is mandatory to get your dog registered with local municipal authorities. Getting your pet licensed will help in some activities and approvals from the government. It is one of the easy ways to ensure dog interaction with humans and in society. There is a need to set down strict guidelines on how a pet should be cared for when taking them to a public place. Delhi and Mumbai have taken the initiative step for pet licensing with strict guidelines that lead to decrease dog bites and dog attacks.

In Mumbai, BMC has issued the guidelines to help curb diseases like rabies and leptospirosis. The authorities can seize your pet dog at home if you don’t have the required license. As per section 191(A) of the MMC act. It is compulsory for dog pet owners to have a license. This charges Rs.100 for providing a license and Rs.105 for renewal of license every year.

From civic data it has reported that 1,09,563 dog bites were reported from
March 2017 to February 2018. BMC has appointed veterinary doctors in each seven administrative zones. As notices will be sent to the pet owners if their pet is not licensed yet. Similarly in Mumbai if a dog is seen unlicensed it will be detained by MCD.

To get your pet registered with your municipal corporation, you need to visit the municipal corporation offices of your area and ask for forms. Online forms are also available at some offices.
