Can dog world record reveal an Australian shepherds historic feat?

Dog world record

An extraordinary Australian vet has made headlines as she took on a fantastic challenge for the Guinness World Records in Edmonton, Alberta. Australian shepherd, Chardonnay, trained by Jennifer Fraser, jumped across the backs of 56 people in just 16 seconds, setting a remarkable dog world record.

The record run was during a game on June 14 against the Edmonton Riverhawks, an amateur summer collegiate baseball team in the West Coast League. The fans were set up in a line in the outfield making an impossible path for Chardonnay to navigate.

Chardonnay’s Dog World Record Performance

Chardonnay had one minute to complete the challenge but only 16 seconds was enough. The active dog was quick to jump from one person to another, moving from one back to another.

The feat was not only Chardonnay’s athletic performance, but also an illustration of the amount of training and coordination it took to successfully pull off such an intricate maneuver.

Key details about the record:

  1. Dog: Chardonnay, a four-year-old Australian shepherd
  2. Trainer: Jennifer Fraser
  3. Number of people: 56
  4. Completion time: 16 seconds
  5. Maximum time allowed: One minute
  6. Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
  7. Event: Edmonton Riverhawks baseball game
  8. Record category: Most jumps between people by a dog in one minute

Years of Training Behind the Achievement

Chardonnay’s performance is the result of years of training. She’s originally taught the dog to jump on her back several years ago, Fraser said. As time went on Chardonnay’s tricks and skills grew and eventually she was able to compete in the world record challenge.

Jumping over backs is just one of Chardonnay’s talents, Fraser said. She was able to stay focused during the sequence, with the backing of her training and confidence, in front of a large audience.

A Record That Could Be Broken Again

Even though he set the record, Fraser doesn’t seem to be taking his foot off the gas. They are considering setting the record again, she told The Washington Post, indicating that Chardonnay’s amazing run might not be her last.

It’s also provided a fun illustration to the fans on how a dog training can be athletic and disciplined and trustworthy. The 16-second groundball-turn gave Chardonnay a special moment in history for the Guinness World Record Books.

Until now, no one has been able to cross the backs of this many humans faster than the Australian shepherd.
