How Does Harvey Rocks Keep Harvey’s Memory Alive?

This is the story of the Simpkins family, who live in Devizes, Wiltshire, and who have lost their dog, Harvey, who was an Australian Kelpie. He was 13 years old when he passed away, making the whole family very sad.

Nevertheless, this family has found an unusual way of paying tribute to Harvey. Harvey Rocks is their creative project, which involves painting rocks and hiding them around Devizes and its surrounding areas

How Harvey Rocks Works

This project allows people to easily become part of the family when commemorating Harvey. They can take a picture of the rock and then post it on the Facebook page of “Harvey Rocks.” Once this is done, they will then hide the rock again to be found by someone else.

In fact, the rocks have gone much further than what the family anticipated. The rocks have been moved from Devizes all the way to Spain and the United States.

Project Highlights

According to Katie Simpkins, this project enables her family to cope with their grief. In addition, this is a way for her family to remember Harvey positively.

In addition, through this project, the family is able to think of joyful moments in their life rather than thinking of their grief. Every painted rock is an indication of the joys that Harvey brought into their lives.

This project has also created a link between strangers. Through the found rocks, the strangers become a part of the life story of Harvey.
