Dog Safety Labrador Rescued From Cliff Ledge at Waterfall

Dog safety became a major concern at Pecca Falls near Ingleton, Yorkshire, after Penny, an eight-year-old Labrador, became trapped on a narrow rocky ledge.

Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) has swiftly acted to save Penny. North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue helped with the rescue process.

Dog Safety Rescue Team Reaches Penny

Penny had already fallen in the river and climbed onto a rocky shelf which was approximately 6.5ft (2m) above the water.

But still, Penny couldn’t leave that place as she was stuck at the bottom of a cliff which was 40ft (12m) high.

Soon, the CRO volunteers arrived on the spot and assessed the terrain and set up their rope system.

The next step was that the volunteer went down the cliff via the rope system and rescued Penny safely.

In the end, Penny met her worried owners.

Fire Service Supports Operation

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue had another crucial part to play as well. Its riparian rescue team at Ripon worked downstream of Penny.

On the other hand, the CRO volunteers concentrated their efforts on trying to reach the trapped dog.

Dog Safety Lessons From Pecca Falls

This is another rescue mission following a previous dog rescue that occurred at the same falls in March when CRO volunteers rescued a dog that fell 26.2ft (8m).

This dog too, was stuck on a small ledge where the team had to use a similar pulley system to rescue it.

Pecca Falls consists of five waterfalls and collectively falls over 30m (98ft). Thus, it poses difficult conditions for the rescuers.

The Cave Rescue Organisation was established in 1935, with more than 80 volunteers working for it currently to carry out mountain, cave, and other public service rescue missions.
