Akasa-Air faces pet owner criticism

Person shares bad experience on Akasa Air Bengaluru flight with dog, questions need for pet ticket.

Akasa Air, a well-known airline, is facing scrutiny after a passenger named Lakshay Pathak shared a challenging experience during a recent flight from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru with his Shih Tzu. Pathak expressed his frustrations on LinkedIn, pointing out issues such as a significant delay in the flight, unhelpful ground staff and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and a noticeable gap between the promises made with the Rs 5,000 pet ticket and the actual experience.

In his post on January 26, Pathak provided details about the flight, initially scheduled for 10:20 PM, which eventually took off at 1:40 AM, resulting in over six hours of waiting in the airport for him and his wife. He criticized the apparent lack of empathy and competence among the ground staff and CISF, especially in dealing with pet-related queries.

Pathak voiced concerns about the misleading information regarding the comforts of pet travel, considering the extended delay. Despite the inconvenience, the airport staff reportedly insisted on not allowing the pet out of the container, and there were no arrangements for pets to relieve themselves.

The passenger’s narrative highlights the challenges encountered during the journey and underscore the importance of enhanced communication and services, particularly concerning arrangements for pet travel.
