Cavapoo

Over the years, unintended occurrences of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle have occurred. However, intentional blending started in the late Nineties in Australia. The foremost appeal of mixing the 2 was the calmer nature of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel coupled with the intelligence of the Poodle. The Poodle fur was also considered ideal for those laid low with allergies, although no dog is hypoallergenic. Popularity for the Cavapoo has received since the 90s, so much like purebred dogs, you may find Cavapoos waiting patiently to be adopted all the time from shelters and rescues!

Temperement

Many Cavapoos have an award-winning personality and revel in their households’ enterprise very much. Cavapoos occasionally have problems being alone and can suffer from separation anxiety, so they could do well in a home where they are now no longer solo much of the time. Proper socialization and training, starting at puppyhood, are encouraged to avoid future anxiety. Cavapoos can thrive in most forms of domestic due to the fact they’re so amicable. They generally tend to get along well with kids and could likely even greet a stranger with a wag of the tail. Smaller kids are gentle because the Cavapoo usually falls on the smaller side and might be easily injured. Cavapoos also do well with different pets in the home and wouldn’t mind having a dog or cat friend around with proper introductions. Having such large personalities, they’ll develop their habits if not skilled as quickly as they become your family members, so be sure to provide the training to develop proper doggie manners!

Upkeep

The Cavapoo is an active, amusing little dog! They do require activity, which means indoor play, a leisurely walk, or a romp in a fenced-in yard. They enjoy interaction with different dogs, so play dates can also help them burn extra energy. Because Cavapoos are low-dropping like a poodle, they can grow to be quite fuzzy and could need regular visits to a groomer unless you’re professional at trimming your pup. They also can be susceptible to ear infections, so retaining the ears clean is necessary. As with any breed, you must maintain the nails often trimmed, and teeth brushed to avoid plaque build-up!
