The Clumber is the stockiest of the spaniels. The Clumber is also one of the oldest breeds in the late 1700s. Although the exact derivation of the breed is unknown, it is probably that the old heavy-headed Alpine Spaniel and the low-bodied Basset Hound performed outstanding roles in its development. The breed did not get its name till the French Revolution, while it miles believed that the Duc de Noailles of France moved his spaniel kennels to the Duke of Newcastle’s English estate, Clumber Park. Clumber Spaniels appealed to the English nobility, who liked this slow-moving, however keen-nosed hunter who was also an adept retriever. The breed was no longer readily available to commoners because the nobility discouraged its reputation amongst a better society. As befitting their high status, Clumbers were among the earliest breeds to be shown. They are brought to America in the late 1800s.

He tends to be low-key and quiet at home and might even want to be goaded into exercise. He is one of the few carrying breeds appropriate for town life, although he’ll have fun with walks and outings. The Clumber makes a great training pet, particularly dedicated to 1 person.
The Clumber enjoys an everyday outing; however, he may meet his exercising necessities with a long stroll on a leash or a leisurely hike in the field. The coat requires brushing two to three times weekly, even though in dirty regions, it could need more frequent bathing to maintain its skin a sparkling white. Clumbers generally tend to drool and, at times, snore.
