The Havanese is one among the Barbichon (later shortened to Bichon) family of small puppies originating in the Mediterranean in historic times. Spanish traders brought a number of those puppies with them as gifts for Cuban women, permitting them to establish trading relationships. In Cuba, the little puppies have been pampered because of the unique pets of the wealthy. They were called Habeneros, and subsequently, a few discovered their way back to Europe, where they were known as the White Cuban. They have become pretty popular, not just as pets of the elite but also as performing puppies. However, their reputation as pets waned, and their stronghold remained in the circus, in which they served all over Europe as trick puppies.

This Havanese is a busy, curious dog, happiest while living in the family’s center of attention. The Havanese likes to play and clown and is affectionate to family, children, strangers, different dogs, and pets—almost everyone! This breed is inclined to please, learns quickly in training, and might have a tendency to be vocal.
Although energetic, the workout needs of the Havanese may be met with a brief stroll or an excellent play session. Coat care includes a complete brushing 2 to 4 instances a week. This is a non-shedding dog. Loose hairs are stuck in the outer hairs, tending to tangle, until they’re combed out regularly.
