Assagao Panchayat Bans Fierce Dog Breeds in Public Spaces

Assagao Panchayat bans fierce dog breeds

ASSAGAO: Assagao bans fierce dogs as the panchayat has issued a public notice prohibiting the public presence of certain aggressive dog breeds following a recent dog attack on a resident.

The notice emphasizes that violations will be treated as a punishable offense. “The government has banned specific dog breeds in India, such as Pitbulls and Rottweilers. Owners of these breeds are advised not to walk their pets in public areas. Failure to comply will result in penalties,” the notice states.

The directive follows an incident in Badem, where the police registered a case against a resident after his dog allegedly attacked a neighbor. Additionally, Assagao bans fierce dogs as the central government has urged state governments to prohibit the import, sale, and breeding of certain breeds considered dangerous.

The list of banned breeds includes Pitbulls, Rottweilers, Terriers, Mastiffs, and their crossbreeds. Authorities assert that these breeds pose a significant risk, with attacks capable of causing severe injuries or fatalities.

Meanwhile, the state’s animal husbandry ministry has announced plans to implement a comprehensive stray dog management policy, prioritizing sterilization efforts statewide.
