Ranchi Dog Couple Shelter 166 Abandoned Dogs with Love

Being a pet dog owner is a way of showing love, companionship, and responsibility to most individuals. Within families, members tend to adopt one or two dogs and feed them, give them shelter, and even love. Dogs to Somen and Sonali are not pets, and they are not family. The Dog Couple, as they are also known, is a popular couple who have opened their hearts and their home to over a hundred dogs, and their story is inspirational and heartwarming.

A Love Story That Grew into a Mission

Approximately 25 years ago, Somen and Sonali married each other because of love and went to settle in Ranchi to begin a new life together. Like most newlywed couples, they desired to have a good family with love and nurture. They started their life with dogs when they got two discarded pets. What began as a token gesture continued to become a lifelong quest. When they found injured, abandoned, or sick dogs anywhere on the streets, they could not resist adopting them.

The number of dogs they were taking care of continued to increase over the years. The couple today is the custodian of 166 dogs that have their own tales of pain, life, and healing. Instead of residing in a shelter or a kennel, those dogs can be found in the home of the couple, which proves how much they are committed and caring.

Daily Challenges of Caring for 166 Dogs

It is Herculean to feed, groom, and care for so many dogs. The couple will make sure every dog is fed on time and taken to the doctor when it falls ill, and that the dogs are in a safe and loving place to stay. In addition to the day-to-day practice, they deal with emergencies, such as curing injuries, and even bringing ailing dogs to veterinary clinics.

All the costs, initially, were paid out of the personal savings of the couple. Nevertheless, this financial burden of keeping so many animals was quickly too much. Food, vaccinations, medicine, and veterinary bills were piling u, and the couple was soon in a gray area seeking remedies.

Community Support and Growing Awareness

Somen and Sonali sought assistance to go on with their mission. Using WhatsApp and Facebook pages, they started to attract donations from friends, animal lovers, and well-wishers. Gradually, their story started to get noticed, and some organizations emerged to offer financial support. This support has helped alleviate some of the burden, but it is still nowhere near enough to consider everything.

Nevertheless, the couple does not want to quit despite the difficulties. Their strong character and spirit have encouraged most people in society to become more humane towards the stray animals. They also feel that all dogs have the right to love, care, and an opportunity to live, and they intend to do all they can to give them these opportunities.

A Call for Greater Support

The Dog couple of Ranchi has demonstrated that being compassionate can change not just the life of a human being but also that of an animal. Their mission can not last on love alone. They need more solid financial support and broader community assistance as they have 166 dogs that rely on them. Individual, organizational, and local authority contributions would go a long way in keeping their good work going.

When frozen animals find it hard to survive in a world that seems to be indifferent to them, the home that Somen and Sonali created is their ray of hope. It not only tells of dogs but also of kindness, sacrifice, and how love can change the future to become better.
