In 2014, I launched Pet Fed upon realizing there was an event for every human interest imaginable—food, fashion, art, music—but nothing for pet owners and their furry pals. While other communities fostered engagement and learning, there was a gap for pet parents. We envisioned a platform where pets and their owners could unite, exchange knowledge, and explore the vast world of pet parenting.

Why do you believe there’s a pressing need for more festivals like Pet Fed?

We advocate for more festivals like Pet Fed to champion pet welfare, strengthen the bond between pets and their owners, and cultivate a sense of community among pet enthusiasts. Our primary focus is on promoting pet adoption over buying and selling, echoing our motto #AdoptDontShop. Adoption grants pets the freedom of choice without the transactional nature of buying and selling, providing shelter to those in need. Pet welfare encompasses their physical, behavioral, and emotional well-being, necessitating attention and patience from owners.

What were the initial challenges in organizing the festival?

Organizing Pet Fed entails exhaustive research, meticulous planning, and a significant investment of time and effort. We encountered initial hurdles, from logistical intricacies and budget constraints to securing sponsorships and marketing the event. Additionally, managing participant engagement, volunteers, and unforeseen weather conditions posed challenges.
