Sangareddy Dog Cruelty: 10 of 11 Dogs Die; Activists Demand Justice

HYDERABAD: In a heart-wrenching case of Sangareddy dog cruelty, 10 out of 11 dogs thrown from a 40-foot bridge in Eddumailaram village, Sangareddy district, have died from their injuries. The only survivor, a pregnant dog, recently gave birth but remains in critical condition. Citizens For Animals, an animal welfare group, is pressing authorities to identify and punish those responsible for the brutal act.

According to Prithvi Paneru, a member of Citizens For Animals, the surviving dog gave birth to five puppies on Friday despite suffering severe injuries to all four limbs. “The dogs were thrown with their mouths gagged and limbs tied. The mother dog is extremely weak, hasn’t eaten for two days, and her food intake remains very low. She is currently receiving treatment,” he said. This shocking case of Sangareddy dog cruelty has sparked outrage among animal activists, who are demanding strict action against the perpetrators.

Paneru detailed the sequence of fatalities over the past month in the Sangareddy dog cruelty case: two dogs died on January 5, followed by three on January 17. Another succumbed on January 20, and three more passed away four days ago. The most recent deaths occurred on Thursday night and Saturday morning.

“Each time a dog died, we transported the carcass from Nagole to Sangareddy for a post-mortem and handed the reports to the police,” Paneru added. Despite these efforts, no significant progress has been made in identifying the perpetrators.
The cruelty came to light when it was reported that 32 dogs had been thrown from the bridge. Twenty-one died instantly, while 11 survived with severe injuries.

“With only one dog fighting for survival, we remain deeply concerned and continue to demand justice. We urge the authorities to act on the FIR and ensure the culprits are brought to justice,” Paneru asserted.
