A wave of concern over animal welfare has been ignited following a viral video depicting a dog entering the field during an Indian Premier League match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, only to be kicked and chased away. While various celebrities have weighed in on the incident, actress Vedhika has taken a stand against the mistreatment of the dog.
Expressing her dismay, Vedhika commented, “Watching a dog being chased around like a disposable object during the IPL is disheartening. It’s alarming to see individuals resorting to kicking, hitting, and intimidating a helpless creature. Sadly, this mistreatment of animals has become ingrained in our culture.”
“There’s nothing humane about this behavior. When will we learn to respect all living beings? It’s shameful that incidents of severe animal cruelty continue to occur in our country, contradicting the principles of ahimsa that we profess. It’s imperative that animal cruelty is treated as a non-bailable offense,” she added passionately.
The incident unfolded when a dog entered the field during Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya’s bowling stint, momentarily halting the match. Despite Pandya’s attempt to beckon the dog towards him, stadium staff resorted to chasing and kicking the animal off the field, disrupting its playful escapade.
