Dog Adventure Ends With Dramatic Rescue From Cornwall Roof

Sweetie, a fearless rescue dog from Macedonia, found himself in a frightening situation after his latest dog adventure took him onto the roof of a two-story house in Falmouth, Cornwall.

Sweetie was no stranger to adventures. The family actually had to make some changes to their home for his protection. But nobody thought that one day Sweetie would open the bedroom window downstairs and find his way to the roof.

Sweetie’s Dog Adventure Turns Frightening

At the end of the roof, Sweetie realized that he was unable to find his way back to safety or even get down from the rooftop. He remained on the roof for a period of roughly one to two hours.

His owner, Emma Seager, added that the family was accustomed to the adventurous ways of Sweetie after having him for three years.

“We’re incredibly grateful to those who saved him.”

The family knew the situation could have ended very differently.

Firefighters Race to Help

Falmouth Community Firefighters came to take Sweetie home. It was a delicate operation since the scared dog might get too frightened and endanger himself further.

The firefighters:

• Employed a 13.5-meter (44.3-feet) ladder to get up to the rooftop.
• Approached Sweetie slowly to keep from scaring him.
• Cooperated in leading him to the ground.
• Soothed him during the rescue process.
• Managed to bring him back into his rescuers’ hands.

According to firefighter Jon Walker, Sweetie had become “fairly traumatised” after spending so long on the roof.

Back on Solid Ground

The happiest moment was when Sweetie jumped into his rescuer’s arms and made it safely back home.

His family was ecstatic about having their dear pet back.

Emma called Sweetie “charming and full of character,” while adding that the family adores him “to bits.”

From now on, the family will secure their windows tightly before going out.

For Sweetie, the escapade ends for now. For his family, however, it’s just the beginning of many “shenanigans” from this mischievous escape.
